Choose what leaves your record

Your account and preview are private. Make a sharing link creates a fixed version that anyone with the link can read and download when ready. Leaving search-engine listing off does not make the link private.

Later edits to your private record do not rewrite an issued document. Withdraw its public link to stop future access through that link. Files someone already downloaded cannot be recalled.

Withdraw an existing sharing link

  1. Open your record, then Issued records.
  2. Open the version you want to withdraw.
  3. Choose Withdraw this version, review it, then confirm Withdraw version.

The link then shows that the version was withdrawn, and its reading and files are unavailable there. Downloaded copies remain with their recipients.

Export your records and files

  1. Sign in, open Account and request an account export.
  2. Return to account exports and download the archive when it is ready.
  3. Keep the archive before deleting your account. Its download expires after seven days.

The archive includes your records, private history and files. You can request a new archive if its download has expired.

Delete your account

  1. Export anything you want to keep and review your issued sharing links.
  2. From Account, open Delete your account and read the document-retention choices.
  3. Enter your current password and type DELETE to submit the request.

Google-only accounts need to set a Karatu password through the reset flow first. That step requires working email delivery and access to the account inbox.

The option to keep issued documents is off by default. If you choose it, those versions keep their original names and writing and cannot be withdrawn through the deleted account.
